Franco Asaro is born in 5. Cataldo (CL) in 1936. Graduated in Literature in Turin, he has tought at the Secondary School “C. Gancia” in Canelli and he has been headmaster of the Art Gymnasium “Gandolfino” in Asti. He is a free-lance journalist and he cooperates with literary and art magazines. He has been pupil of Caro Caratti and Amelia Platone; recently he has perfectioned his pastel tecnique in France, attending academic courses in Grenoble and Chambery.
From 1960 he takes part to may exhibitions succesfully and receives a lot of awards in Italy and abroad.
He has organized 33 personal exhibition in entire Italy and has been invited to take part to the international exhibitions in Tokyo, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo,Stockholm and Paris, Istanbul, Seul and Hong Kong, Chicago, New York and Boston.

As poet and writer he has published, in addition to many typewritten pages of “written and drawed poetries”, two short-story volumes, six illustrated-lyric booksand three “Travel Carnet”. Also in this field he obtained important awards: the ‘Arte pro Arte” award(Rome 1972), the Città di 5. Cataldo Award (1973), the 5. Secondo Award (Asti 1981), the Cinque Terre Award (La Spezia 1981), the Cesare Pavese Award for essay-writing (S. Stefano Belbo 1987) and the Grand Prix des Arts et des Lettres-Ville de Nice 1997 for love poetry.

La collina dei desideri

Primi passi di un fresco mattino.
Place du Tretre respira grata
non più (non ancora) lacerata
dai turisti che si accalcano
attorno agli emuli di Utrillo.
Le pale del Moulin de la Galette
non macinano più sesso facile
ma certo alla "Bonne Franquette"
gli spiriti di Zola, Renoir e Degas
brindano allegri all'immortalità.
Oggi è autunno e "les feuilles mortes"
hanno il colore fragrante degli acquarelli.
Fa di tutto Montmatre per serbarsi
fedele al dagherrotipo ingiallito
della sua giovinezza e ammantarsi
da eterna collina dei desideri.
